Our 'helper' carrying the equipment |
Today we concluded filming. We have now finished all our essential scenes with the actors. I am pleased to say it went well. We had some minor setbacks such as the adversely cold weather. However, we all continued regardless of the rain. Furthermore, we overcame filming difficulties. It is extremely hard to get permission to film in train stations and on platforms due to the legal implications. Thus the organisation of the event was challenging.
What my role included:
- Cast Actors/Actresses
- Prepare/buy and props prior to filming
- Finalise a date and Station/Platform to meet at
- Explain the narrative structure clearly to the actors
- Give the actors clear direction
- Organise lunch for the actors
- Call actors to keep them updated on any changes in location
Throughout the course of filming, I enjoyed being able to give direction and the casting process and can't wait to get stuck into editing in teh new year.
It was demanding having to communicate with the actors and receive CV’s and photographs of them through email, via my Blackberry. The filming process has occupied time, required perseverance and has proved to be costly; nonetheless, the benefits of quality acting and experience outweigh this.
