How we made our poster

This image of a syringe injecting a tongue is what we used as our initial influence.
The reson we were inspired by the image is because it causes people to cringe and cretes a strong reaction from the viewer. This also defines why the film is rated an 18, due to the fact that the image is explicit for young children. In addition the image

We first started with an original image, of a close up shot of the protagonist. This was inspired by the SAW posters. We used a pen in replacement of a syringe and also to probe the tongue, this manipulated the tongue and caused it to rise.

We then edited the pen out by using the manetic lasso cutting tool on Photoshop. This meant that we could colour the image in red .This also gave us the freedom to be creative and replace the pen with the image/graphic of the syringe

Using the sponge tool we desaturated the image to make the colour seem more ash like and the body look numb (as though it were a corpse/rotting/dieing). To create the gole in the tounge, we chose the burn tool to add the effect of a needle penetraiting a tongue.

Lastly, we further changed the colour of the image by adding dark shadows and also putting some false bruises on the face of the victim. This caused the image to have a darker atmosphere. In addition we added blood dripping from the mouth and the tip of the syringe. Furthermore we added a drop shadow behind this to give the blood a more 3D look.

Lastly we used our image and added it to a white background and blurred it in. The image to the left shows our first trial. We liked this because the text was in place of the rest of the victims face. However, the context of the film was put at the top and this is not conventional, due to the fact that there was no room at the bottom of the page, we realised we would be compromising the effectiveness of the main image.
Therefore, our final poster can be seen on the right, it has the text placed in a more comprehensive and logical order. The film context (the least important info) is placed at the bottom. Lastly, the image of the image of the mouth is placed the top and the chin was added in using the clone tool on Adobe photoshop.
