Year: 1960 American horror film
Director: Alfred Hitchcock
Screenplay: Joseph Stefano
Novel: Robert Bloch
One of the most notorious horror film scenes ever! THE FIRST SLASHER .
I loved psycho, Anthony Perkins is amazing in the film! It had so much appeal for me as a teenager. Even though it’s from half a century ago!
For me it's what a horror film should be. Hitchcock’s perfection is always visible in the camera, work, plot and overall execution. I love the use of mirrors, stuffed birds and voice overs to mimic the thoughts of the characters.
Watching Film 2010 this Friday, I discovered that Hitchcock’s artistic depiction and skill in capturing the many different shots in the shower scene would normally take years for a director to develop.
For me the film can't be categorized. It's dramatic whilst being true to the horror genre. It's mysterious whilst thrilling. Perhaps we could say it's the ultimate horror classic!
Here's an article I enjoyed reading about the famous scene.http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2010/mar/29/psycho-body-double-marli-renfro
