Aside from Keanu Reeves really bad English accent. I thought Bram Stoker’s Dracula made the classic Dracula tale more modern and thus put a twist on the typicaly black cloke wearing vampire.
Not only are the costumes more visually appealing, the film itself is more lavish and daring. The opening was very atmospheric, the use of shadows was very clever and a convention I am considering for my horror teaser trailer. The use of blood and themes including sacrifice and suicide as well as blood pouring from a religious symbol (the cross) was very controversial.
This is a much more flamboyant new look at Dracula. I think that Bram Stoker’s Dracula more closely follows the original story of Dracula than any previous film version. It includes the journal entries and newspaper clippings that made up the novel's structure. This recaptures the tone of the book and allows us to see what many different characters are thinking and feeling.
